Honest to god thoughts I have when writing sexy scenes

As follows…

How do I describe this in a way that sounds more sensual than pornographic…

*Consults thesaurus*

Burning. Crashing. Fiery blaze. Waves cresting and breaking sharply.

Pure. Wild. Untamed.

Oh, there we go. Got it!

*Sits back and reads*

Damn, that’s good.

*Blushes*

Oh crap, my sister-in-law is going to read this when she edits this.

Awkward.

Oh my god, my mother-in-law is going to read this.

Oh god. Oh god.

Shit.

What am I doing?!

My grandma is going to read this.

Oh hell, grandma can use some excitement in her life, right?

And dad? He’s just going to skip right over those chapters. Yes, sir. Yes, he is.

Because I just can’t even… can’t even go near that with a ten foot pole.

I need some alcohol. Where’s the alcohol? *searches kitchen* I know there’s some tequila in here somewhere. Ahh, here it is. *takes shot*or three*

Okay. Okay. That’s better.

It’s all going to be okay.

This is art.

And art is evocative and sensual and gives no fucks.

Right?

Right.

This is moving the story forward. Connecting the characters. Upping the stakes, if you will.

Heck, I’m even enjoying this a little bit.

Okay, maybe a lot.

Showing strong, sexy, vulnerable characters engaging in consensual, safe sex. That can only be a good thing.

And good Lord, woman, it’s a romance novel. There’s supposed to be sexy scenes.

Your readers want this. In fact, they’ll be pissed if it’s not in there.

You know you would be.

And its not exactly shocking stuff, either.

So, get over yourself.

Pull yourself together.

You’re only writing stuff you’d want to read.

Okay, then.

This is it.

Here it is.

It’s good stuff. Trust yourself.

*Deep breath in, deep breath out*

Going out into the world.

Happy reading, readers. Enjoy!

Until next time, farewell & may your life never cease to be filled with wonder and curiosity.
